Tom Lenfestey

Tom Lenfestey, Attorney and CPA, has been assisting business and individual clients in North Carolina since 2004. Tom is the founder of NC Planning, a pro-active legal practice focused on ongoing planning relationships between the attorneys and their clients. A different approach to the attorney-client relationship, the practice has been built on a foundation of open communication, known fixed fee structures, and becoming part of the client’s advisory team through strategic coordination with other trusted resources, CPAs, and financial advisors. As a result, Tom and the NC Planning Team are able to make ongoing and strategic legal planning actually work for business owners and individuals alike.

Tom’s role with NC Planning’s clients is focused on ongoing, strategic planning in the areas of taxation, corporate, and estate matters. Tom specifically assists in proactive and ongoing corporate structure planning, tax planning and elections, strategic gifting and wealth transfer, and estate tax structure planning, to name a few, while other NC Planning attorneys each have their own specific knowledge niche, as well as providing the core practice area services to clients. Tom leads his team in many ways. Tom sets the example and a high standard for NC Planning with his dedication, preparedness, and responsiveness through his (should be) patented 5 a.m. matter reviews, task updates, and client and team emails.

As for Tom’s personal life, he is a devout Catholic and Wolfpack fan, a native Michigander (who still believes in the Lions!), and a health nut who often precedes his 6 a.m. emails with a 5:00 a.m. jog, swim, or bike ride. However, Tom will be the first to tell you that his family is his true passion in life. Father, husband, son, brother, and uncle – Tom lives a full and enriching family life. And with two young boys waiting for him at home, the pace of life just speeds up when he walks in the door, which is just the way he likes it (that is one area where the 5 a.m. work sessions come in handy). And in those other spare moments you also might find him at the local home improvement store checking off items on his honey-do list or spending time with his family up at Lake Gaston.
